With the presence of the President of ANDE, Ing. Félix Sosa and his team of executives, at a press conference held on the morning of Monday, November 7 of the current year, the campaign for the installation of the first 5,000 smart meters ( AMI) that will be implemented in the Villa Morra neighborhood, in the city of Asunción, in a period of approximately 30 days, with which the National Electricity Administration begins the transition towards the Smart Grid, which constitutes one of the most important innovations at the level of the Institution in terms of electrical energy measurement, since it allows a complete interaction with the user of electrical energy, with the benefits that these equipments present, their components and communication systems, data collection software, management and monitoring , providing advantages and benefits among which we cite: access to differential rates, consumption information and data from an APP, control and remote billing of co input, real-time data, agility in network management responses, economic performance for the customer, management and monitoring of the electricity network and speeding up the attention to claims due to lack of electricity.

In the field of the energy sector, the implementation of these digital solutions implies significant efficiencies and cost reduction. Particularly in those related to reading and billing cycles, but also those related to network maintenance and management.

This equipment was acquired through the ANDE Public Tender No. 1643-21 “Acquisition of Smart Basic Meters with Associated Management and Monitoring in an AMI Solution”, through an investment of €. 1,114,000 (one million one hundred fourteen thousand euros). The ELGAMA brand equipment was acquired through Contract No. 8580/2021, signed with the firm COMPAÑÍA COMERCIAL DEL PARAGUAY SA
One of the pillars of this digital transition is smart metering, whose global understanding considers the combination of the installation of smart meters and a communications link.

Based on the use of mainly wireless technologies, they allow bidirectional communication between a user and a public service provider, ultimately becoming means of monitoring and control with the function of providing information and feedback to the participants of the energy system. Allowing, on the one hand, network administrators to make decisions about the generation and distribution matrix and from the perspective of users, informed consumption that allows them to take actions with different objectives, such as minimizing energy costs, or meeting environmental objectives.
