Mark Cuban Tells Musk ‘Your Business, Your Decision’ Over Twitter Fee

• Mark Cuban told Elon Musk that Twitter was “his business,” following an exchange between the pair.
• Cuban had suggested dropping the verification fee for the most accurate Community Notes contributors.
• Elon Musk replied to Cuban, saying: “$8 for all.”

Elon Musk bluntly rejected Mark Cuban’s suggestions about a free verification program for some users on the social-media platform.

Cuban, a billionaire entrepreneur, quote-tweeted Musk’s post to Jack Dorsey about Twitter accounts using Community Notes, formerly known as Birdwatch, a feature that allows users to identify and flag misleading information.

“You might consider proactively offering your $8 verification program for free to those you deem the most accurate Notes contributors. Won’t be easy to confirm accuracy. But if AI can try to model out bias, maybe it can model in accuracy?” Cuban wrote in the tweet.

Musk replied to Cuban, saying: “$8 for all.”

“Your business. Your decision,” Cuban wrote in a quote-tweet to Musk.

It comes after Cuban celebrated the billionaire’s acquisition of Twitter, tweeting that he was “looking forward” to the Elon Musk era and describing him as a “ready, fire, aim entrepreneur.”

Since Musk took over Twitter on October 28, he has set out plans to launch a subscription service costing $8 a month, which gives users a blue checkmark, the ability to post longer videos, fewer ads, and priority with posts.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO has repeatedly doubled down on his plans to charge $8 to users who want to remain verified on Twitter. 

Some celebrities including Lynda Carter and Josh Gad, lawmakers like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and major media organizations have criticized the planned monthly $8 fee for a blue tick, which indicates that a user is who they say they are.
