Aston Minerals increases strike of Edleston Main and Sirola gold targets

Drilling of high-grade hanging wall mineralisation at the Edleston Main and Sirola gold targets within Aston Minerals’ (ASX: ASO) Edleston project in Canada has increased the mineralised strike to 2 kilometres.

Edleston Main was discovered by previous explorers and received limited follow up exploration.

Aston designed an infill drilling program to test the continuity and determine the extension potential of this mineralisation.

The best recent result was 2.38 metres at 39.27 grams per tonne gold from 289.38m.

It follows previous results of 5.3m at 42.44g/t gold from 111m; 3.3m at 57.4g/t gold from 207.4m; 1.5m at 15.74g/t gold from 298.15m; and 15.58m at 2.57g/t gold from 75.74m including 2.03m at 11.11g/t from 79m.

Sirola drilling

Drilling at the rapidly-emerging Sirola discovery defined a strike length of 500m with best results of 19.5m at 1.4g/t gold from 232.5m including 3.05m at 8.51g/t from 232.5m; and 11.06m at 1.1g/t gold from 165m including 3.12m at 2.61g/t from 172.94m.

Previous best results were 1.41m at 14.7g/t gold from 233.59m; 71.49m at 0.61gt gold from 377.49m; 81m at 0.69g/t gold from 156.5m including 1.56m at 11.45g/t from 166.48m; 2.3m at 8.6g/t gold from 420.2m; and 11.5m at 0.96g/t gold from 471m.

The Sirola prospect is located 800m to the east of Edleston Main and previously had only been drilled to depths of up to 200m.

Scratching the surface

Managing director Dale Ginn said the company is “only scratching the surface” of what it believes to be a significant mineralised system.

“We are pleased to have finally received two out of the three remaining gold drill results for the extensive campaign completed across Edleston Main and Sirola… the drilling at Sirola is shaping up to be a particularly significant discovery which spans a strike length of 500m,” he said.

“Drilling across the hanging wall target at Edleston Main has also increased our confidence in there being a substantial high-grade gold system within a much broader mineralised trend which extends for a strike length of over 700m.”
