Nestlé SG recalls batch of Gold Honey Flakes cereal said to contain small plastic pieces

Nestlé Singapore has initiated a voluntary limited recall of a Gold Honey Flakes cereal product that may contain small pieces of plastic. It also apologised for the inconvenience this may have caused to its consumers. The voluntary recall only covers a single batch code – 12230631DD with the expiry date 11 August 2022 – and Gold Honey Flakes cereal product with different batch codes are not affected by the recall. The batch codes can be found on the product packaging.

Nestlé explained in a statement that the action is being taken out of “an abundance of caution” after a report was received, indicating that there might be small pieces of plastic found in the product. It has since identified the source of plastic and rectified the issue. “The quality and safety of our products is our priority. We’re currently working closely with our retail partners to remove existing products of this particular batch code,” the company added.

It also advised consumers who may have purchased the product to not consume it but instead contact Nestlé Consumer Services for assistance. Consumers who are unsure how to identify the batch code of their purchased product should also contact consumer services.

Separately on the marketing and advertising front, Nestlé is in the midst of appointing a media agency for Singapore and Malaysia. The review was announced in June and was said to help ensure that Nestlé remains strongly-positioned and highly relevant in today’s fast-paced and competitive business environment. It involved a re-examination of ways to manage media strategy, planning and buying in line with rapidly-changing digital platforms and evolving media landscape and agencies. Zenith is the incumbent on the account.
