Plainview orthopedics achieves Joint Center of Excellence status

The certification, offered in collaboration with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, focuses on the pre-surgical orthopedic consultation, surgery, hospital care, rehabilitation activities, and follow-up evaluations.

“I cannot express how proud I am of our orthopedic clinic and hospital and the work that each caregiver puts into ensuring we offer exceptional care close to home,” said Covenant Health Plainview CEO Cassie Mogg.

“It is almost unheard of for a hospital of our size to earn a designation of this caliber.  This is a huge opportunity for our orthopedic service line to continue to grow.”

To achieve this designation, Covenant Health Plainview underwent a rigorous onsite review where Joint Commission evaluated compliance with related certification standards including orthopedic surgical processes and overall patient outcomes.

“This was an effort from multiple departments,” said Plainview Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Joshua Rollins. “Not only a testament to the quality of our wonderful orthopedics staff, but all members of our Surgical team that strive to ensure the best outcomes possible. Anesthesia, physical therapy, outpatient, and essentially all departments involved did a very exceptional job and they excelled to a gold standard.”

Rollins added this will be a major opportunity for Plainview as a whole.

“This is very exciting, and this will open new opportunities for our community, especially for many employers that require a Joint Center of Excellence for care. They can now stay local and that’s a great asset for our region.”
