Healey cabinet nearly complete after labor, housing secretaries’ swearing

Gov. Maura Healey’s Cabinet grew more official this week with the swearing-in of two more secretaries, bringing the total number to nine.

Lauren Jones was sworn in as the new Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development and Yvonne Hao as Secretary of Housing and Economic Development.

Jones previously served as Executive Vice President of the Massachusetts Business Roundtable and created the Business Strategy Unit for former Boston Mayor Marty Walsh’s Office of Economic Development.

“Lauren Jones has a proven track record of collaborating with businesses and labor to expand workforce development opportunities, attract new businesses to our state, and give both workers and employers the support they need,” Healey said with her appointment.

Hao is the Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Beth Israel Lahey Health, Co-founder of the investment firm Cove Hill Partners, and a former operating partner at Bain Capital.

“Yvonne Hao has a proven record of growing businesses and turning ideas into results. We can count on her to drive Massachusetts’ economic competitiveness, innovation and entrepreneurship,” Healey said when appointing her.

Transportation Secretary Gina Fiandaca, Administration and Finance Secretary Matthew Gorzkowicz, Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Rebecca Tepper, Education Secretary Patrick Tutwiler, Technology Services and Security Secretary Jason Snyder and Climate Chief Melissa Hoffer were sworn in on January 6, when it was also announced Public Safety and Security Secretary Terrence Reidy would stay on from former Gov. Charlie Baker’s administration.

Acting Health and Human Services Secretary Mary Beckman will serve until a permanent secretary is appointed, according to Healey’s office.
