CLEVELAND, Ohio – A total of 15 Cuyahoga County homes each sold for more than $2 million in 2022, including the highest sale since 2018, a $7 million Lakewood sale in September.
Big ticket sales were localized to only a handful of cities in the counties, with Shaker Heights topping the list with three homes over $2 million.
Bay Village, Gates Mills, Hunting Valley and Moreland Hills each had two homes in that range. Bratenahl, Lakewood, Pepper Pike and Westlake each had one multi-million dollar sale in 2022.
May and June was the hottest time to purchase this caliber of house, with May seeing four sales and June seeing an additional three, making up nearly half of the multi-million dollar home sales for the year. April, July and October did not see any house sales in this range.
The $7 million Lakewood purchase was a two-story colonial on a 2.58-acre lot atop a cliff overlooking Lake Erie on Edgewater Drive. Built in 2015, the 10,474-square-foot home also includes a 1,265-square-foot patio and a four-car garage. County records say the house has five bedrooms and four baths, though the listing said seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms.
This was followed by a $5.4 million home in Hunting Valley, sold in November. The home is 17,000 square feet and includes a fitness center, theater, pool, and tennis and volleyball courts. This all sits on 5.8 acres, according to real estate records. The house has five bedrooms and eight baths, and an additional carriage house is on the property.
