Coastal New Hampshire Mansion Sells for $25 Million—a State Record

A waterfront mansion on the Atlantic Coast in Rye, New Hampshire, has sold for $25 million—a record for the state.

The residence was purchased in an off-market deal by Peter LeSaffre, the CEO and founder of Fusion Worldwide, a Boston-based electronic component company, and his wife, Mary Lou LeSaffre, a retired real estate agent, according to property records. The sale closed just a few days before the end of the year.

Jim Giampa of Carey & Giampa Realtors represented the buyers, and confirmed the $25 million price. He could not share other details because of an nondisclosure agreement. The LeSaffres have owned another home in Rye since at least 1999, property records show.

The deal is far and away the priciest residential sale in New Hampshire, according to Zillow records. Previously, the title of New Hampshire’s most expensive home was a 7-acre estate on Lake Winnipesaukee in Wolfeboro that sold for $12.3 million in October, The Wall Street Journal reported

The 6,572-square-foot mansion dates to 1926, and sits on just over an acre of land with 225 feet of water frontage, according to a past listing. The home overlooks Jenness Beach, Cape Ann and Isles of Shoals, and offers three bedrooms, five bathrooms and two powder rooms.

There’s also a pool and a path down to the water, plus a manicured lawn, an aerial view of the property showed.

The estate is part of the peninsula known as Locke’s Neck, after a 17th-century colonizer, or Straw’s Point, after former New Hampshire governor Ezekiel Straw, according to a local history blog. He built a home there in 1872, but people had been calling it Straw’s since he held a clambake for his sister in law there the previous summer.

Representatives for the LeSaffres did not immediately return a request for comment.

The home last traded in 2007 for $3.5 million, according to records with PropertyShark. The seller was not available for comment.

Seacoast Online first reported the deal.
