What Slowdown? $9.25 Million Mansion Outside San Francisco Sells in Two Weeks for a Local Record

A French Country-style mansion in San Francisco’s East Bay region sold Wednesday for $9.25 million, after spending just two weeks on the market. 

Located at the end of a private cul-de-sac, the gated Alamo, California, home was listed in mid-November for $9.75 million, Mansion Global reported at the time. It was the most expensive deal this year in the San Ramon Valley—which is part of Contra Costa County—listing records show. 

The more than 10,000-square-foot home sits on more than an acre of manicured grounds, and is about 35 minutes from San Francisco, according to the listing with Jill Fusari of The Agency.

“It is situated in the most serene and private of settings, complete with olive and Redwood trees, meandering stone paths, rose bushes and hillside views,” she wrote in an email to Mansion Global last month.

Despite economic headwinds and tech layoffs in the Bay Area, prices in Contra Costa County have stayed relatively flat since August, according to Redfin. The median sales price was $800,000 in November, the property portal reported. 

Mansion Global could not determine who purchased the property, and public records were not yet available. Scott Kalmbach and Radhi Ahern from Outpost Real Estate represented the buyers.

Amenities of the home include an automatic sliding bookshelf leading to a modern speakeasy bar and wine room with a fireplace, a detached guest cottage with a grotto shower and an eat-in kitchen featuring two marble-covered islands and a La Cornue oven with induction and a wok range and a farm-style sink, according to the listing.

There are five en-suite bedrooms, plus an additional full bathroom and two powder rooms, the listing said. 

The grounds feature a pool with a covered bridge and waterfalls, a covered outdoor kitchen and an enclosed outdoor living room with a fireplace. In addition, the home is solar-powered, with a whole-house generator, and there’s a six-car garage.

The home last traded in 2017 for $5.5 million, according to records with PropertyShark. The owners were not immediately available for comment.
