Michelle Kwan, retired U.S. figure skater and the country’s ambassador to Belize, has listed her long-time Los Angeles home for $2.899 million.
Ms. Kwan, 42, has lived in the Bel-Air home since 1999, when she bought it for $725,007, according to records with PropertyShark. The three-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom home features views of the Getty Museum and an expansive backyard that’s built into the hillside and boasts an outdoor kitchen and wood-burning fireplace, according to last week’s listing with Violetta Polonski of RE/MAX Estate Properties.
“It feels like you’re somewhere in Europe,” Ms. Polonski said. “You can just walk around the property and, in the back, it has fruit trees—lemons, avocados, persimmons. And you’ve got the views of the Getty Center.”
A brick staircase leads from the home to the terraced backyard, which is also brick and features additional native plantings, arches and other features, listing photos show.

Built in 1950, the home also features custom cabinetry throughout, the agent said. There are hardwood and tiled floors; a chef’s kitchen with granite kitchen countertops, a Subzero refrigerator, and a Thermador oven and stove; and two fireplaces.
In addition, the home has a finished attic and additional dining room that are not included in the square footage, plus a two-car garage, the listing said.
The most decorated U.S. figure skater in history, Ms. Kwan is a five-time world champion and a nine-time U.S. champion, as well as a two-time Olympic medalist. She took the oath of office as an ambassador on Oct. 22, and presented her credentials on Dec. 5.
Earlier this week, she made her first public appearance as an ambassador at an event in Belize, according to Breaking Belize News.

Ms. Kwan did not immediately return a request for comment.
