Our Cabinet League Table: Sunak drops from fifth from top to sixth from bottom. Hunt in negative ratings. Wallace stays

The average score in this month’s Cabinet League Table is 21.7 (excluding Douglas Ross and Andrew RT Davies).  I wondered whether this was a record recent low, and if so by how much.

The average in September, the only month in which the survey was issued during Liz Truss’s brief term as Prime Minister, was 23.7.  In August, the last month of Boris Johnson’s premiership, it was the same.

So, yes, it’s a record recent low, but not by much.  The panel has clearly felt that the Government, in its various manifestations, has not been performing well for some time.

Rishi Sunak drops from fifth on 49.9 to sixth from bottom on nine.  Jeremy Hunt was mid-table last month and is on -9.9 this.  That’s day two of the panel’s vote of censure.

The panel is either unenthusiastic about aid or about people who cheerlead for it or both.  At any rate, Andrew Mitchell is also in the red.

Suella Braverman was fifth from last in October on 20.4, and is up to eleventh from top this month on 21.9: not much of a difference in the actual score there.

But she at least avoids the fate of her junior Minister, Robert Jenrick, who comes in at -25.4.  I assume that this result is also small boats-related.

Ben Wallace stays top, Kemi Badenoch second and James Cleverly third.  They are the only Cabinet members to score more than 50 points.

This is an unhappy panel.  And in case you were wondering, the average score in the first Cabinet of Johnson’s premiership in our table was 57.4.
