249 East 62nd Street’s Exterior Takes Shape on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

Exterior work is progressing on 249 East 62nd Street, a 28-story residential tower on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Designed by INC Architecture & Design with SLCE Architects as the executive architect and developed by Zeckendorf Development, the 347-foot-tall structure will yield 66 condominium units with two to four homes per level. CM & Associates is the general contractor for the property, which is located by the corner of Second Avenue and East 62nd Street.

At the time of our last update in August, the reinforced concrete superstructure had recently topped out and stood completely exposed. Since then, workers have proceeded to steadily enclose the building with interior cinderblock walls and a grid of large windows. The lower levels below the main setback are now shrouded in scaffolding and construction netting. This section is enclosed in waterproofing panels with clips in place to hold the final façade.

Residential amenities will include a fitness center, sauna and steam room, and an on-site superintendent. More will likely be disclosed as the project gets closer to completion. The nearest subways from the site are the F and Q trains at the Lexington Avenue-63rd Street station to the west, and the N, R, W, 4, 5, and 6 trains at the Lexington Avenue-59th Street station.

249 East 62nd Street is anticipated to be completed in the latter half of 2023.
