AZ Big Media 100,000-home Teravalis breaks ground in Northwest Buckeye

The Howard Hughes Corporation — in partnership with JDM Partners and El Dorado Holdings — broke ground Friday, Oct. 28, on Teravalis, formerly known as Douglas Ranch. The community is located in northwest Buckeye.

The groundbreaking took place at 16912 Sun Valley Pkwy., Buckeye.

Teravalis will become Arizona’s largest master planned community (MPC). The community anticipates 100,000 homes, 300,000 residents, and 55-million-square-feet of commercial real estate upon completion. The development of this community represents the future of the city of Buckeye, already one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities.

The 37,000-acre community is projected to be developed over the next 50 years. As the only community built and managed from inception to completion by the company, Teravalis will be the first community in the HHC portfolio whose development solely represents the Howard Hughes legacy.

“How you live matters,” said Heath Melton, President of the Phoenix Region for The Howard Hughes Corporation. “Our mission is to curate vibrant communities that elevate the everyday, creating meaningful moments in great places where people can live their best lives – and thrive for generations to come.”

Melton was one of several speakers at the community’s groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, Oct. 28, 2022.

He was joined by Jay Cross, President of The Howard Hughes Corporation, Jerry Colangelo, Partner of JDM Partners, Sandra Watson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Arizona Commerce Authority, and Buckeye Mayor Eric Osborn.
