Disgraced comedian Louis C.K. —  accused of sexual misconduct in 2017 by multiple women — has just bought a co-op in one of the city’s most storied buildings.

The comedian, writer and producer, whose legal name is Louis Székely, spent $3.85 million for an eighth-floor unit at the famed downtown Art Deco building One Fifth Ave., according to city property records. Following the accusations against him that year, he apologized for his misconduct in an open letter saying, “These stories are true.” (However, in a 2020 special, he made light of them.)

Louis C.K., who tours London, Glasgow, Belfast and Atlantic City this month, may have been drawn to the building’s quirky history. In 2008, “Sex and the City” creator Candace Bushnell once wrote a novel, “One Fifth Avenue,” based on the celebrity-heavy West Village “Gold Coast” building. It sits just off Washington Square Park.

In August, someone paid $1 million over ask to nab a unit, as Gimme Shelter previously reported.

The four-bedroom, three-bath pad was on the market a mere 47 days. The co-op is a two-unit combo that was available for the first time in almost 40 years. The corner home was once featured in Apartamento magazine, the listing notes.

The dwelling opens to an entrance gallery, with a main bedroom wing to one side and entertaining spaces, along with additional bedrooms, on the other. The residence also features an open kitchen and a dining space with oversize casement windows. 

Original design details include parquet floors and pre-war ceiling beams. The building, by architect Harvey Wiley Corbett, dates to 1927.

Over the years, it has been home to artists, actors and rock royals. Robert Mapplethorpe shot Patti Smith’s “Horses” album cover there, and Jessica Lange bought two units in the building. Blythe Danner, Gwyneth Paltrow’s mom, also lived there — as did Keith Richards and “Scarface” director Brian De Palma, who reportedly had Courteney Cox audition for her Springsteen “Dancing in the Dark” music video in his duplex.

Helena Bonham Carter also lived in the building with Tim Burton before their 2014 split; while Wendy Wasserstein, of “The Heidi Chronicles,” called the building home, as did Pulitzer Prize-winning writer and literary critic Michiko Kakutani. 

Building amenities include a double-height lobby, a doorman/concierge and a library.
