Downtown offices closed because of ‘security concern’

Procter & Gamble’s downtown offices will be closed Wednesday for security concerns, according to a company spokesperson.

In a statement to WLWT, P&G wrote: “Given awareness of a potential security concern by Cincinnati Police, we have closed our downtown offices today out of an abundance of caution.”

The Cincinnati Police Department says, in a statement, that P&G contacted the department late Tuesday evening, “referencing a security concern” at the downtown building.

Cincinnati police said they offered to provide security at their downtown location but then P&G made the decision to close the location for the day out of an “abundance of caution.”

“P&G made the decision for their employees not to report to work this morning,” CPD’s statement reads. “CPD is currently assisting P&G with this security concern.”

The Kenton County Sheriff’s department says they have received information about a man in northern Kentucky who used to work at P&G who has made threats toward his former employer. The sheriff’s office says they’ve handed the information to Cincinnati Police.

Cincinnati police says the investigation is a multi-jurisdiction investigation and no one has been charged yet.

Law enforcement officers, including a SWAT team, are on the scene.

Some employees who spoke with WLWT say they arrived to the building not knowing it had been closed. One employee tells us she is already inside the building and is being allowed to stay inside but can leave if she’d like.
