Alexandra Daitch, an heiress to the Cargill agribusiness fortune, has listed her waterfront Connecticut home for $14.5 million.
The five-bedroom, roughly 9,500-square-foot home is located on approximately 11.5 acres in Lyme, a town in eastern Connecticut about halfway between New York and Boston, said listing agent Madeleine Mattson of Coldwell Banker Realty. The listing is one of the most expensive in the area.
The house is about 9,500 square feet.

Ms. Daitch and her husband, fine-art photographer Peter Daitch, paid about $2 million for the land and custom-built the house in the early 2000s, according to property records.
The property has about 350 feet of waterfront and a private deep-water dock on Hamburg Cove off the Connecticut River. The grounds include a pool, pool house and guesthouse, said Ms. Mattson. The house has a library, sunroom, six fireplaces, a porte-cochère and a home gym with a climbing wall, said Ms. Mattson.
Minnesota-based Cargill was founded by Ms. Daitch’s great-great-grandfather, William Wallace Cargill, who started a frontier grain elevator in Iowa in 1865. The company didn’t respond to a request for comment.
Luxury houses in the Lyme area typically receive multiple offers, since there are a “backlog of buyers” and low inventory environment, said Ms. Mattson.
