Raleigh, N.C. — Try finding a dream home in the Triangle’s cutthroat housing market.
“It’s an emotional roller coaster weekly,” said Gina Little.
Gina and Tadrick Little have been on the hunt for about four months.
“We’re looking for four-bedroom, open concept. Large kitchen for my wife, she loves to cook,” said Tadrick Little. “It’s tiresome. Aggravating. Frustrating.”
Factors like inflation and higher interest rates are putting constraints on people’s purchasing power.
Realtor Ahmed Mustafa often looks outside the Triangle to find other options for his clients.
“A lot of people keep getting priced out because prices keep going up,” said Mustafa.
WRAL News asked him what 300-thousand dollars would get a buyer in the city of Raleigh.
“300 thousand dollars would probably be a townhouse right now. Because it depends,” said Mustafa. “You could maybe get a single-family, but it really depends on the square footage of the home.”
WRAL News used the same price range to find homes in other parts of the viewing area.
A 3-bed, 2.5 bath home popped up for sale in Zebulon eastern part of wake county, for $282,000. There’s a 3-bed, 2 bath home on the market for $297,000 in Durham.
In Nash County, a 3 bed 1.5 bath comes with a $224,500 price tag and in Cumberland county – dozens of homes on the market for under $300,000.
Like the 4 bedroom, 2.5 baths for $285,000 is looking at.
“It might not work the first go-round but tomorrow, it could be better,” said Gina Little.
WRAL News asked some clients if they’d consider options outside of Raleigh, several said they want to stay in the area to avoid commuting.
