A more than 20,000-square-foot Los Angeles megamansion inspired by the castles of Europe has hit the market for $87 million.
Standing on close to 8 acres in the city’s Benedict Canyon neighborhood, the eight-bedroom, 14-bathroom residence is “poised high atop a promontory…[and] boasts jaw-dropping 360 degree views of all of Los Angeles,” according to the listing with Aaron Kirman of Aaron Kirman Group at Compass, which listed the home last week.
The mansion has also served as the backdrop for more than 40 music videos, TV shows and movies, including projects by Bon Jovi and Shakira, as well as a Naomi Campbell interview with Vogue Italia, according to the listing. The views, sheer size and over-the-top decor make it easy to see why.
The estate is infused with European design sensibilities, from the 16th-century Venetian stained-glass windows in the formal dining room to the two-story foyer with its gold-accented Imperial staircase, listing photos show. There’s also a Tiffany blue formal sitting room; a mirrored wet bar; a billiards room; and a two-story library with an ornate wood ceiling, a steel staircase and a stained-glass light fixture.
The property is located atop a promontory, and has 360-degree views ofLos Angeles.

Other amenities include a ballroom that leads to a terrace, a chef’s kitchen with a sunny breakfast room and a wine cellar “crafted to resemble that of an early 18th-century English saloon,” according to the listing.
The primary bedroom suite has several terraces with views of the city and the estate, a massage room, two closets and a bathroom made with lapis stone.
Outside, the grounds include a pool and spa, an outdoor kitchen and numerous terraces, plus a tennis court, a putting green and a koi pond, plus rose, fruit and vegetable gardens, according to the listing.
The owners, a businessman and his wife, purchased the underlying property in 1998 for $800,000, according to records with PropertyShark. They were not available for comment.
Mr. Kirman declined to comment for this article.
