A Swiss Chateau With Views of Lac Leman Heads to the Auction Block

A 200-year-old Swiss chateau on more than 9 acres is set to be auctioned off with no reserve on Dec. 2, according to Concierge Auctions, which is handling the sale.

Located between Geneva and Lausanne in the village of Gingins, the more than 11,000-square-foot home was most recently listed for CHF29 million (US$31.1 million). Dubbed Domaine de Château Blanc, it has far-reaching views of Lac Léman, part of which is also known as Lake Geneva, and beyond, according to listing agents Victor Brandt of Swissroc Properties and Fabien Risse of Naef Prestige Knight Frank.

“From the house, you have stunning views of the Alps and Mont-Blanc,” Mr. Brandt said in a video about the listing. “The property was built in the early 19th century and was completely renovated in 2000. In 2011, interior designer Kelly Hoppen added a modern touch to the interior spaces.”

The residence boasts a living room with double-height ceilings and an aquarium at the center that divides the two seating areas, one of which has a fireplace.

“My favorite part of the house is the living room,” Mr. Risse explained. “It has an incredible ceiling height; it is warm and cozy; it has a positive energy.”

The main floor also features two offices, a formal dining room and an eat-in kitchen with professional-grade appliances, a lounge area and a butler’s pantry, listing photos show. The home has eight bedrooms, with a primary suite that offers two dressing rooms and a private hammam.

Other amenities include a media and games room with a mezzanine, a sauna, an elevator, a temperature-controlled wine room, a private studio apartment and a two-car garage.

Outside, there’s a heated circular pool and a pool house surrounded by landscaped grounds, according to the listing. There’s also a tennis court and an adventure park with a zip line.

The home is about 17 minutes to Geneva International Airport, and 35 minutes to the cities of Lausanne and Geneva.

Mansion Global was unable to determine who owned the property and how much it last sold for.
