Lopp’s Links For Learning Bitcoin

Bitcoin is a fascinating multifaceted topic that requires much research to comprehend. I’ve spent a decade trying to understand it and help others do the same – over the years I found myself repeatedly searching for answers to the same questions, thus I started bookmarking resources to save myself the time finding them yet again. Eventually I decided it would be even easier if I just collected them all in one place, and thus my educational resources page was born in 2015 for the Bitcoin Special Interest Group I founded. What began as a single page with a few dozen links is now 40 pages of subcategories with over 1,500 links.

Bitcoin.page is my ongoing curation effort to help you browse the reams of high quality information that have been written over the years about bitcoin and related works.

For those who are just getting started I seek to answer the how and the why of bitcoin. Everyone should read the whitepaper, which is written in fairly straightforward non-technical English – but translations are available in dozens of languages. You can then gain a reasonably high level understanding of the network in about half an hour, though a deep dive into the protocol can take weeks. Moving past the technicals, you may explore a wide array of questions and criticisms regarding the economics, game theory, and future evolution of the system. Bitcoin is even complicated enough that some of us have gone to the lengths of explaining why it’s so hard to fully understand!

You won’t be an expert after an hour, a day, or even a week of ingesting the content linked from bitcoin.page, but you will be better prepared to empower yourself with this technology.
