Island life at the Jersey Shore could be yours for just under $3 million.
There’s a home listed for sale on the prestigious West Point Island in Lavallette. The five-bedroom, three-bathroom home is bay front on Pershing Boulevard and priced at $2.95 million.
The half-moon shaped piece of land that has about 300-400 homes on it is where Joe Pesci used to have his contemporary mansion, which he sold last year for $6.5 million. Pesci’s former home has been torn down and the lot is on the market for $3.2 million.
The island saw a lot of new home construction between 1999 and 2001 – so much so that the electric infrastructure couldn’t keep up with the demand and had to be rewired, according to a NY Times story from 2005.
Today, most homes there are valued at well over $1 million.
“There are a lot of well known people who have homes on the island,” said David Lazaro, of Keller Williams Shore Properties, who is listing the $2.95 million home.
It’s one of two existing homes currently for sale on the island.
“It’s tough because there’s no supply anywhere and bay front is limited to only ‘X’ amount of homes,” he said. “It’s a very exclusive, desired area.”
The home has walls of windows on both floors to take in the bay view. The fifth bedroom is unfinished and has a separate entrance so it could be made into a private suite or an entertainment room. Outside, the composite deck is shaded by a 12-foot by 20-foot retractable awning.There is a dock that can accommodate multiple boats and a 12-foot by 10-foot, 20,000-pound boat lift.
West Point Island also has a private beach and playground.
The home’s price was recently reduced by about $450,000.
It was built in 1977.
The living room has a gas fireplace and custom built-ins.
The first floor features hardwood floors and plantation shutters.
The home is 4,315-square-feet and sits on a 6,534-square-foot lot.
The kitchen has granite countertops, a six-burner cooktop, a 72-inch refrigerator, and more.
The master bedroom has floor to ceiling windows and its own balcony.
The master bathroom has a double vanity and large walk-in closet.
It has a boat dock and lift and includes a six-person hottub.
