Monkepox News LIVE Updates: Delhi reported its fourth case of monkeypox with a 31-year-old Nigerian woman testing positive for the disease, official sources said. With this case, India’s tally of monkeypox infections has gone up to nine. She is the first woman in India to test positive for monkeypox.

The woman has fever and skin lesions and is admitted to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital, sources said, adding her samples were sent for testing and the results came positive. There is no information about her travelling abroad recently, sources said.The first monkeypox patient in Delhi was discharged on Monday from the LNJP hospital.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) recently declared monkeypox a global public health emergency of international concern.

  • A case of fraudulent recruitment into Naval Police came to light recently, master-minded by an individual claiming to be Capt Sameer Singh of the Indian Navy. The individual reportedly offered young candidates fake employment in the Indian Navy as security guards.
  • A preliminary investigation conducted by Naval Police revealed that the individual, operating from Ambernath (East), used a fake Defence Ministry letter, indicating INS Kunjali, situated at Colaba, Mumbai, as being the recruitment and workplace.
  • He used his location to transact money, uniforms and other required paperwork & took money from innocent aspirants as application fees, promising them jobs as security guard.

ED again issues notice to ex-Kerala Finance Min Thomas Isaac

  • ED again issued a notice to ex-Kerala Finance Min & CPIM Central Committee member Thomas Isaac, on its probe into alleged violations in financial dealings of Kerala Infra Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).
  • ED asked him to appear before probe officials in its Kochi office on Aug 11. Earlier the ED asked him to appear before the probe officials in its Kochi office on July 18 but he didn’t.
  • ED registered a case on 2nd March 2021 against KIIFB on this when Thomas Issac was the Finance Minister of Kerala.

ED officials said they recovered important documents in their raid at 2 locations in Mumbai yesterday. Officials told ANI that they found out that Sanjay Raut paid Rs 3 crores in cash to the sellers for 10 plots of land in Alibag.Statement of former HDIL accountant also recorded today. Apart from money transferred to Raut’s account, Raut had received large amount of cash from Praveen Raut. This is the money used in purchase of flats in Alibaug & Mumbai, claimed ED officials.
