Houston Home With a Darth Vader Vibe Sells for Undisclosed Price

A Houston home that caught the internet’s attention earlier this year because of its resemblance to the “Star Wars” villain Darth Vader sold last week for an unknown amount.

The 7,000-square foot home, in the city’s affluent West University Place area, originally listed for $4.3 million in May, Mansion Global reported. Its last asking price was $3.1 million, according to property records, however the listing with Martha Turner Sotheby’s International Realty puts its most recent ask at $2.8 million. 

An almost-black, angular facade with clerestory windows gives the contemporary home its resemblance to the “Star Wars” villain’s helmet, but that wasn’t the intention, according to listing agent Nadia Carron of Sotheby’s.

“The owner…wanted it to be dark and mysterious, and his inspiration was actually the stealth fighter [aircraft]. He sat down and drew out exactly how he wanted it to look inside and out,” Ms. Carron, who shares the listing with colleague Wade Knight, told Mansion Global in May. 

Dr. Jean Cukier, a plastic surgeon, was the seller, according to records with PropertyShark. He enlisted architect Roger Spears, now retired and known as Lynn Swisher Spears, to design the four-bedroom, five-full-bathroom abode. It was completed in 1992, and this was the first time the home has changed hands. Mr. Cukier could not be reached for comment. 

The home’s interior is “the complete opposite” of its dark exterior, according to Ms. Carron. The back of the residence features floor-to-ceiling windows that let in natural light, and there are double-height ceilings, skylights and an open floor plan on the main level to keep things bright. 

There are also two staircases, handcrafted flooring, a number of water features, a sunken family room, a glass-walled office and a primary bedroom suite with outdoor access, listing photos show. 

Mansion Global could not identify the buyer, as records of the deal have not yet been made public. 

The agents did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
